How to make a chocolate bowl with your own hands

The size of the chocolate bowl varies due to many factors that are determined during operation. Take a sheet of A4 and find template for work and study the sizes.

Then let's get started creating the basis: Cut out a rectangle of the required size and mark the fold lines with a pencil. Take a ruler and press the folds from the wrong side of the designer cardboard using your knitting needle, but be careful not to tear the cardboard.

Then we erase the lines that we drew with a pencil, we do not remove the ruler, we continue to bend the cardboard with its help. This measure helps to avoid creases; the box and folds will come out nice and even on both sides.

Now let's move on to the interior decoration. Draw along the cuts of the rectangle figured hole punch or you can use curly scissors and decorative tape. First, we make hearts at a certain distance from each other, after that we add more holes.

We cut out two rectangles from cardboard with a golden tint, each part is 1 cm smaller than the dimensions of the canvas of each pocket. For example, the pocket fabric for bills and chocolates is 10x20 cm.

The rectangles that are on the wrong side can be marked with a pencil and cut out using a stationery knife and a ruler. In this case, the cuts will be clear and even; if you choose simple scissors, creases may form.

We will take one of the rectangles to decorate the front side, and we will need the second to decorate the backing for the money.

In the two corners of the rectangle with a golden tint, we make two holes using a heart hole punch. We glue it with hearts in the center of the chocolate bowl onto the bill paper so that on each side of the rectangle there is a white border with the width we need. To glue everything together, it is better to use PVA glue.

After all these actions place the workpiece under the press for ten minutes for good rolling.

More you need to take care of the ties in advance, otherwise it will be difficult to thread the ribbon later. We cut the ribbon to the required length, then make sure that the ribbon wraps around the chocolate bowl along its narrow part and can be freely tied into a bow (before work, you need to iron the ribbon).

We make cuts according to the diagram and thread the tape through the holes. We move the ribbon so that its center falls on the inner fold of the chocolate bowl.

Let's move on to creating pockets again.

Using the template, we cut out two ends from cardboard, make bends and cut off the corners. We apply two strips of tape to the front side of the cardboard wings, remove special paper from each part of the end and glue a chocolate pocket to each side of the body.

We pull off the protective paper from one end and seal the pocket, and do the same with the other side. Let's move on to the banknote pocket: apply a small strip of PVA glue to the top and bottom of the money pocket and leave the pocket under pressure. That's it, the inside is ready.

This unique technique, which is needed to create the correct external finishing of the elements. After we have made a golden rectangle, we glue it with PVA to the desired surface. Then we cut out another rectangle and stick it on a large piece of tape to increase the volume of the cover of our chocolate box.

Scrapbooking technique not very popular, but very simple. In the end, you can choose any packaging to your taste, design it beautifully and pack it.

Giving some trinket is very banal and unreasonable, but making an original gift with your own hands is quite sincere and romantic. For example, a postcard in the shape of a box will look very good; such a postcard is also called a chocolate box. we discussed it in one of the previous articles.

This card is not only a greeting card, but you can also put in it your favorite chocolate that the person you want to congratulate loves. The original packaging will remain a long-lasting memory, and the chocolate will decorate your tea party and give you a sweet sensation.

Master class on creating a chocolate bowl using scrapbooking technique

So let's get started! We make a cardboard template for a postcard: to do this, we measure the required dimensions and get a template like this with a pocket, as shown in the photo below.

All the necessary materials that we need can be seen in the photograph.

We fold our template, bend all the invisible lines, and get something like this on the outside.

And, accordingly, inside.

Using this template, applying it to a clean thick sheet of whatman paper or cardboard, we measure the dimensions and cut out the very base of our chocolate bowl. We make bending lines using a ruler and a special stick, more details can be seen in the photo.

Then we cut two pieces of about 9-10 cm of satin ribbon and glue these pieces approximately in the center on the top and bottom base with double-sided tape. We see more details in the photo.

We cut out the top blanks from scrap paper for the top, back inner parts of the chocolate bowl, as well as for the pocket. We make the edges curly using a hole punch. After we have completely glued our main workpiece with PVA glue, we glue all the pieces of scrap paper onto double-sided tape, as shown in the picture below.

We fix the inside corners of the pocket with double-sided tape, as shown below.

Now we use a glue gun to glue the entire decor to our liking. First, glue a paper napkin with tape or PVA glue approximately in the center to the front of the chocolate bowl, then a die-cut with a congratulatory text, and finally glue half beads and paper flowers. For beauty, you can sew a metal pendant onto one edge of the ribbon. The product is ready, put a chocolate bar in it, tie a beautiful bow and the gift is ready!

Video tutorials for beginners

New Year means gifts, colorful lights, music, songs and dances. And sometimes even the Christmas tree starts dancing! Well, its contents will enhance the festive mood. The author of the “Dancing Tree” chocolate maker will tell you how to prepare such a New Year’s surprise with your own hands.

Materials and tools:

glue “Moment Crystal” (or double-sided tape);

double-sided foam tape;

metal ruler;

Download templates for cutting out chocolate bowl parts and join the process:

As usual, we start by printing out the diagrams for the chocolate bowl and the decorative element on pastel paper.

We cut out the decorative element with the herringbone, starting from the smallest and most complex areas of the design.

We cut out the outer contour using a ruler.

Cut out the base of the chocolate bowl and contrasting background details along the contours. Here we also use a metal ruler so that the cutting lines are perfectly straight.

We crease the base of the chocolate bowl along the fold lines indicated by dash marks (in order not to spoil the appearance of the finished product, the fold lines are not drawn along the entire length).

We outline the folds.

Using double-sided tape, glue 20 cm pieces of tape, as shown in the photo.

Using pieces of double-sided tape, glue the background details to the base.

We glue a carved decorative element with a Christmas tree onto the upper surface of the future chocolate box using pieces of double-sided tape on a foam base (another method of attaching a decorative element is described below - in addition to the master class).

We decorate the Christmas tree and garland with half beads to your liking.

When the decor is ready, glue the flaps of the chocolate box pocket.

We hide the chocolate inside. We tie a ribbon - and your New Year's gift is ready!

Chocolate bowl dimensions: 17×9×1.3 cm. But in general, the sizes can be changed to suit the specific chocolate bar you choose for presentation.

By the way, you can also decorate a postcard with the same carved motif. The corresponding cutting diagrams are included (see download file above).

Addition to the master class

As practice has shown, in some cases (when the carved element is made of light pastel paper, for example, beige, milky), even after a very long time, stains from the adhesive layer of foam tape on the carved element may appear.

This, of course, is not so important, since not every chocolate maker will live such a long time. But still, the problem prompted the search for an alternative method of attaching the carved element. And he was found.

Instead of double-sided foam tape, you can use narrow strips of beer (or bookbinding) cardboard.

We cut strips along the lengths of the sides of the carved element.

And glue it from the wrong side with Moment Crystal glue.

You also need to glue pieces of cardboard onto the letters.

It turned out that this method is faster and more convenient. In addition, if you look at the chocolate maker from the side, the place where the carved element is glued to the base looks more aesthetically pleasing.

And there shouldn’t be any problems with “staining”.

Conclusion: the transition to this method is natural. :)

Try it too. Perhaps you will like it better too.

By the way, this technology for attaching a carved element was used to create New Year's chocolate bowls with carved congratulatory inscriptions.

Here, 200 g/m² kraft paper is used for the base. An interesting combination, isn't it?

This master class is based on the video tutorial by Irina Melnikova “Chocolate maker using scrapbooking technique,” which shows how you can make a series of 3 chocolate makers that differ in design.

For work you will need (for 1 chocolate maker):

  • chocolate bowl template (can be found on the Internet);
  • designer paper or cardboard for scrapbooking (density from 200 mg) – 20 cm × 26 cm;
  • a piece of cardboard for the backing (15.6 cm × 7.6 cm);
  • decorative paper;
  • decorative elements for decoration (cuttings, die-cuts, flowers, lace, etc.);
  • 2 ribbons (ties);
  • glue “Moment Crystal”;
  • sewing machine (optional).

Stages of work

Cardboard blank

Print a chocolate bowl template from the Internet.

Template used in this lesson (editor's note)

On the long side of the cardboard (26 cm), set aside 1 cm and crease.

From the first creasing, measure another 1 cm and carry out the second creasing.

The height of the chocolate bowl will be 16 cm (according to the template). We set this length along the short side of the cardboard, starting from the second crease. We carry out the third scoring.

From the third creasing we set aside 1 cm and carry out the fourth creasing.

There, on each side of the main size of the chocolate bowl, there were 2 valves, each 1 cm wide.

Turn the workpiece over: place it with the long side facing you. Set aside 8 cm (according to the template). We carry out creasing.

We set aside 1 cm from the first creasing. We carry out the second creasing.

We set aside 8 cm from the second creasing. We carry out the third creasing.

We set aside 1 cm from the third creasing. We carry out the fourth creasing.

Cut off unnecessary parts (focus on the template).

The result is a blank in the shape of the letter “T”.

We bend the workpiece along the creases.

Decoration

For each workpiece, you need to additionally prepare a cardboard backing. The dimensions of the substrate should be 2 mm smaller than the template size on each side.

It is the substrate that is decorated. Afterwards it is sewn to the template.

We choose decorative paper with different patterns, but in the same thematic direction for all three chocolate makers. For example, the theme “Botany”.

We cut out the blanks for the substrates.

We form the decor of each chocolate bowl in random order.

Advice: If you use a small segment of the main background of another chocolate bar in the design of one chocolate bar, the “serial nature” of all three packages will be emphasized.

The decoration uses various cuttings, cuttings, lace, artificial flowers, etc.

When the appearance of each chocolate maker has been determined, you need to photograph everything so that in further work you do not miss any important decorative element.

When the main details of the decor of the chocolate bowl have been assembled, decorative stitches are sewn on a sewing machine. These could be “zigzags” or other interesting types of stitching.

You can stitch around the perimeter of the backing, or you can make several lines directly on the pattern.

When the stitches are laid, the ends of the thread are brought to the wrong side and secured with glue.

Attach ribbon ties. To do this, mark the middle on the long side of the chocolate bowl.

Glue the ribbons with glue.

Glue the decorated backing to the chocolate bowl.

Decorate the back side of the chocolate bowl.

Apply glue to the valves on both sides and assemble the chocolate bowl.

You can write a wish on the inside of the chocolate bowl.

You can simply paste a beautiful picture.

You can glue a pocket for a bill.
