Million-year-old stones park: all the details, beautiful photos. Million Year Stone Park and Crocodile Farm Pattaya Crocodile Farm and Million Year Stone Garden

An amazing place - a rock garden in Pattaya - once again confirms that Thailand is a multi-layered and multi-level country, like a puzzle. Incredible exhibits of bizarre shapes and unknown origins. A variety of picturesque panoramas, combined with the wild colors of tropical nature...

The history of the million-year-old stones park in Pattaya - why it’s called that

The million years stone park and Pattaya crocodile farm (Thailand)

The park consists of three “compartments”: a crocodile farm, a zoo and the garden itself. It is located 9 km from Pattaya and covers an area of 28 hectares. The creation of the rock park caused a resonance in society, because construction took more than 30 years. “Why such a scale?” the locals wondered, not realizing that this was nothing more than one person’s lifelong dream.

The founder of the garden is Khun Suan Phanomwatanakul, a businessman who loves the nature and culture of his country. Khun Xuan devoted his entire life to studying and contemplating the world around him. Kuhn's favorite pastime was collecting unknown natural objects, bizarre and strange shapes. This could include various trees, stones, even shells. Subsequently, the hobby grew into a dream of creating a garden, and the found exhibits came “by the way”, as the first “bricks” in the construction of a rock garden in Pattaya.

The businessman planned not to stop there. There were ideas about building artificial waterfalls, ponds with exotic fish, mini zoos and crocodile farms. Partially - all plans were realized. Tourists from all over the world began to arrive at the million-year-old stones park in Pattaya and spend hours admiring these splendors.

Million Year Stone Garden in Pattaya – what to see there

The basis of the garden was made up of teak wood, xylia, Merkusa and Hazi pines, pterocarpus and other trees, interspersed with thickets of bamboo, acacia, cacti, ferns and thorny bushes.

Multi-layered rocks of outlandish shapes and sizes, weighing up to 75 tons. They received this form under the influence of water, winds and time. Petrified tree trunks are over a million years old.

Bonsai trees in the Thai style, whose age has exceeded two centuries. And of course, rare species of tropical plants.

From the tropical forests came: yang, such as hopea, anisoptera, sal tree, pandanus, various palm trees, generously entwined with vines. The variety of colors presented here is beyond description.

The names of the fruits of the orchard sound like the music of the East - lychees, longans, langsa-ty, pasion-fruits, pomelo, rambutans, tamarind.

There was also a traditional house for spirits.

At the same time, all elements are harmoniously balanced. Khun Suan personally designed this garden based on his own imagination and experience, as well as with the help of Professor Dr. Phinyo Suwanhiri, an honorary member of the Artists' Union of Thailand.

The magnificence that appears before your eyes is difficult to convey in words - you need to see it with your own eyes. However, understanding the philosophical basis is necessary for a full sense of identity. “Agriculture is the work of Buddha,” teaches the religion of Buddhism. The rock garden in Pattaya promotes self-absorption and introspection. The observer gradually moves away from the surrounding reality and is immersed in an atmosphere of harmony.

Pattaya Crocodile Farm - Wild Tour

The contrast of emotions that is created when moving from a rock garden to a crocodile farm cannot be described in words. Hundreds of crocodiles, opening their mouths, are waiting for treats from the usual crowds of passing tourists. By the way, you can tease them with a piece of chicken hung on a fishing rod for 80 baht.

It is this crocodile farm in Pattaya that has the largest number of “wards” and is recognized as the largest in Thailand. By the way, all the reptiles living in this place end their wonderful lives on the store shelves. The farm has a shop selling crocodile leather products. Here, for sure, there is no doubt about the quality of the product.

Every day there is a show in the garden. A fearless Thai man tries to tease the crocodile by “squeezing” it in every possible way. She dances with him, grabs him by the tail, and then completely puts her head in his mouth. Initially, the thought comes to mind: “this behavior will not lead to good.” In the future, everything becomes clearer. Both the crocodile and, possibly, the Thai, took some kind of medication to reduce the level of aggression and fear.

The performance takes place daily - every hour from 9:00 - 13:00; at 14:20, 15:30 and 17:00.

Zoo at Million Year Stones Park in Pattaya

The third location, which is part of the garden of million-year-old stones in Pattaya, is the zoo. Previously, it was only an addition to the crocodile farm. Today, the zoo houses more than 100 species of exotic animals, including rare individuals for these regions.

Here you can also feed elephants, take pictures with bears and tigers, and give milk to a monkey.

The cost of entry to the territory of the million-year-old stones park is 400 baht, children (up to 120 cm/90 cm) – 200 baht/free.

Opening hours: 8:00 - 18:30

Excursions including transfer – 500 baht (average price).

Is it better to go on a tour or on your own?

No one will give a clear answer to this question. We know one thing: you can admire the beauty to your heart’s content, take a breather in a cafe with a cool drink, and “be at your own disposal” if you go on an excursion on your own.

As a rule, tourist groups have limited time; all locations are inspected according to a schedule. Lagging behind the group is an opportunity to “be forgotten.” On the other hand, a guide who is savvy in all matters will tell you the whole history of the park and will probably amuse you with some joke.

Whether you go with a guide or on your own to the rock garden in Pattaya is up to you. Let's just say one thing: a group trip will be cheaper, since the location cannot be reached on foot or by tuk-tuk. The price of the excursion includes transfer from the hotel.

Million Year Stones Park on the map – how to get there

If you plan to go on a tour on your own, take a taxi and give the address: 22/1 Moo 1, Nongplalai, Banglamung, Chonburi 20150, Pattaya City

GPS: 12.997366,100.933456

If you travel by car: take the highway leading to Bangkok from Sukhumvit. After a couple of kilometers there will be signs leading to the Million Year Stones Park in Pattaya.

There is usually a large queue at the park ticket office; the ticket costs about 400 baht per person, and you need to buy it at the rightmost ticket office. In other windows there are tickets to the crocodile farm and the million-year-old stones park Sold only to Thai citizens. So be careful not to just stand in line. It will take you an average of two hours to walk around the entire territory.

Park map

Inside the park there is a rather amusing recreation area; huge trees provide good shade, so it is cool under them. You can even have a picnic on the grass in the park, provided you bring some kind of mat with you. The mats are quite cheap, you can buy them for as little as 200 baht. Just keep in mind that roosters roam freely in the park of million-year-old stones and can brazenly take your food.

If you come to the park with a child, it's okay. There is a huge playground on the territory where you can leave him for a couple of hours without fear of losing him.

Large groups of Russian tourists with Russian-speaking guides often meet in the park (we have already discussed how they behave). Some of them, due to ignorance of the architecture and history of the crocodile farm and the million-year-old stones park in Pattaya, tell everything they see (just like the Kazakh akyns):

“Here we see an artificial waterfall, in front of it we see a lake, in front of it we see stones, we move on...”

This is roughly how excursions around the territory take place, so It will be easier and more interesting to walk on your own.

Inside Million Year Stones Park in Pattaya An ikebana garden has been organized - small, neatly trimmed trees among stones, with which our tourists love to take pictures (). In the rock garden you can also find a zoo with both artificial and real animals: zebras, exotic birds, ponies, roosters and so on.

She is popular for her extreme crocodile show. It is recommended to come to this show no earlier than half an hour before the start of the performance, since it is during this time that spectators begin to gather, and it becomes increasingly difficult to occupy a good, prominent place. If you are lucky and have more than enough places, I recommend staying at the very top and in the center of the hall.

Blocking the stage with crocodiles, the glass is cleaned quite rarely, so in most cases it will be cloudy, and you won’t see much from the first row. But that's not the only drawback of the show at the crocodile farm in Pattaya, you may see a column holding up the roof, which can also cover some of the epic moments between the crocodiles and the trainer.

More on crocodile farm in Pattaya there is an amazing attraction, and it’s called “Fishing”. For 100 baht you buy a chicken, they give you a fishing rod, and with this very chicken you feed the crocodiles. But often the crocodiles on the farm are already overfed with these chickens, and in order for him to eat yours, you have to try pretty hard. Literally, you have to hit him in the face with this chicken.

Advice! For those who come to the crocodile farm in Pattaya on their own, for fishing right away go to the big lake. In it, the crocodiles are more active and hungry, and are ready to snatch this chicken from you right with the fishing rod. Real fishing awaits you in this place!

Entire territory crocodile farm in Pattaya dotted with small stalls where you can buy food and water, and they may also offer you crocodile meat. If you like to eat this meat, then in all of Pattaya it is the most delicious at the crocodile farm. The cost of a crocodile dish will be 500 baht, soup – 200 baht. You won’t have to wait long for the ordered dishes, since they are already prepared in advance and served within five minutes. The taste of crocodile meat is not similar to pork or chicken, it is tough, but this does not mean that it is tasteless.

Every self-respecting tourist will visit Thailand at least once in his life, and not just come for a couple of days on a beach holiday, but will approach such a pastime abroad more thoroughly: try Thai cuisine, visit the most unusual places, see or do something incredible, because in Otherwise, what's the point of going to Thailand to bring back only memories of the sea, which is found in Turkey, Egypt, and a number of other countries?!

Pattaya is already one of the most popular in Asia, but fashionable hotels, pristine beaches and numerous interesting excursions only add to the number of curious tourists. Having visited Pattaya and not visited the crocodile farm, you can safely admit to yourself that you came to Thailand in vain!

Many travel agencies offer this excursion as a free bonus, but tourists, thinking that they can only get something not very impressive for free, often refuse. But this is in vain, the crocodile farm in Pattaya is a wonderful place that combines a mini-zoo, a crocodile show, and a park of thousand-year-old stones. This is all very unusual for Europeans.

You can visit the farm on your own: you can walk to it, following the map, or take a taxi (just name the place and they will take you there).

Feeding the crocodiles

Well, where would we be without crocodiles? There are several sites with crocodiles in the park. On one of them you can even feed crocodiles chicken, for a fee, of course. Fortunately, the crocodiles here are fed decently, so they won’t fight each other or jump two meters high at the sight of meat. But even without this, the spectacle of a predator eating its prey is quite exciting.

In addition, literally every half hour there are crocodile shows, which are simply breathtaking to watch. Artists spend almost their entire lives learning tricks that they perform for half an hour, and yet the risk of being eaten by a crocodile is not excluded. Such people should be admired and nothing more!

Here you can buy crocodile leather products as a gift or for yourself: wallets, belts, bags, shoes.

Be sure to take a walk around the wide surroundings of the farm. The Thousand-Year Stones Park is very well maintained and beautiful; here you will find many places for beautiful photographs.

At the farm you can see not only crocodiles but also birds and exotic fish. You can visit the area with elephants, where you will be allowed not only to pet, but also to sit on an elephant. There is an area with giraffes, bears and tigers. Almost everywhere animals are allowed to be fed.

When hungry and a little tired, tourists can relax in a small exotic restaurant and try something that you won’t eat anywhere else: reptile meat and eggs.

The Million Year Stones Park was the first attraction I visited in Pattaya. It amazed me with its beautiful landscape design and amazing stones, the likes of which I had never seen anywhere before. Therefore, I recommend everyone to visit this delightful park, as well as the crocodile farm that is located on its territory. Here you can take beautiful photographs, stroll through the park, feed the crocodiles, see a show with their participation and visit a mini-zoo.

The territory of the million-year-old stones park is 29 hectares and is divided into 3 zones: the stone park itself, a crocodile farm and a small zoo. Thanks to this, the park of million-year-old stones is even more interesting and everyone will find something of their own here.

The Rock Park is a picturesque place with unusual stones and exotic plants. The park's collection has been collected over 20 years. There are boulders of volcanic and organic rock here.

Their shape is so diverse and unusual that you won’t see anything like it anywhere else. Some stones resemble figures of animals and birds. Although it is clear that there was a human hand here, many stones were specially given a certain shape. But this does not make the park any less beautiful and amazing.

Delight is caused not only by unusual huge stones, but also by exotic trees, flowers and shrubs. Some trees are even petrified, as they are about a million years old.

In the center of the park there is a branch where colorful carp and huge catfish live. The fish can be fed with food that is sold in the park. The fish are completely tame; they swim to the very edge and wait for their treat.

There is also a beautiful artificial waterfall, which is considered the largest in Thailand.

It is very pleasant to walk around the park; nature of unusual beauty meets you everywhere. The park itself is well maintained and well equipped. There are comfortable and clean paths, and there are benches everywhere. If you are tired, you can always sit down and relax while enjoying the beautiful scenery.

Crocodile farm

There is a crocodile farm in the park. And after a walk through the rock park, I headed right here. To see crocodiles, you need to come to the bridge, from which you can see dozens of reptiles. Some of them swim in the pond, others sleep on the shore. There are so many of them that it makes your eyes wide open.

There is an opportunity to feed crocodiles at the farm. To do this, you need to buy a chicken for 100 baht and tie it to a rope with a stick. This design is very reminiscent of a fishing rod. Then hold a stick in your hands and throw a chicken tied on a rope from the bridge. I thought that after this all the crocodiles would attack the chicken and take it from each other. But it was not there. The crocodiles didn't even look in the direction of the chicken. And they had to almost forcefully push it into the crocodile’s mouth. Apparently, they are regularly fed here and they are not hungry at all.

But the fun at the crocodile farm doesn’t end there. There are shows with crocodiles several times a day. This show is not for the faint of heart. Here trainers drag crocodiles by their tails, kiss them, and stick their hands and heads into their mouths. And at the end of the show, everyone can take a photo on the back of a crocodile or in their hands with small crocodiles. Photography is paid separately.

There is also a store at the crocodile farm where you can buy things made from crocodile skin.

Zoo

The last area of the million-year-old stones park is the zoo. Here you will see lions, zebras, tigers, deer, elephants, giraffes and many other animals, as well as watch parrots, peacocks, ostriches and other birds.

You can not only look at many animals, but also feed them and take pictures with them. For example, you can feed elephants bananas or baby elephants milk. You can also take a photo with an elephant or ride on it for an additional fee. You can also take a souvenir photo with a tiger, monkey, bear or parrot.

Working hours

The Million Year Stones Park and Crocodile Farm are open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Ticket price

  • Adult - 500 baht.
  • Child - 300 baht.

The entrance fee includes access to the rock park, crocodile farm, zoo and crocodile show.

How to get there?

The million-year-old stones park is not located in Pattaya itself, but approximately 10 km from the city. You can come to the park on your own or along with a tour.

If you decide to go on your own, you can only get to the park by taxi or rented transport; public transport does not go there. If traveling with your own transport, you should take Sukhumvit Road and then turn onto the Chonburi-Pattaya highway. There are many signs along the way.

A taxi ride from the center of Pattaya to the park will cost an average of 500 baht.

You can also book an excursion to the million-year-old stones park and the crocodile farm. This can be done at any nearest travel agency or on. In this case, they will pick you up at your hotel, take you to the park and take you back. I visited the rock park on a tour and was quite pleased with the organization of the trip.

The crocodile farm in Pattaya is the largest in Thailand; it is currently home to about 60 thousand crocodiles - the oldest surviving predators on Earth. On the farm there are not only enclosures with reptiles. Visitors can visit a small zoo and explore the Million Year Stones Park, which contains petrified trees weighing up to 8 tons preserved from time immemorial. But the main highlight of the complex, which made it so popular, is, of course, crocodiles.

What to see

If you climb a special bridge, you can see that the farm is literally swarming with crocodiles. Reptiles swim slowly in greenish water or lie motionless on the shore. Small crocodiles are kept in separate enclosures - proximity to adult relatives is unsafe for them. Guests are allowed to feed the crocodiles from fishing rods with meat hanging from them. Usually reptiles lie motionless for some time and then suddenly grab food.

Those interested can watch a show with crocodiles, which takes place on the farm several times a day. Spectators are in no danger - they will be behind a special net that ensures safety. The same cannot be said about trainers. Daredevils pull crocodiles by the tails, kiss them, put their hands and even heads in their mouths.

Crocodiles cannot be trained, and the performance of all tricks is based only on knowledge of their physiology. For example, before the crocodile closes its jaw, there will be a click of the joint, and the trainer will have a split second to pull his hand out of the closing mouth.

After the show, you can take a photo riding an adult crocodile or hugging a still growing reptile. And in a local cafe you can try a crocodile steak.
