- It is recommended to dry the product on a radiator.
- The product is coated with a protective varnish. It must dry out. After this, the product can be placed in the garden.

I draw well, I have more than enough imagination, and there are plenty of stones too. I want to paint the stones with patterns and lay out the path with them, I think it will turn out great. It’s not a problem to find stones in our city, the main thing is to have at least some skill in drawing. Although you can trace the drawing through a stencil and simply sketch the picture with paints. Sea and river smooth stones (pebbles) are very widely used in handicrafts. Their smooth surface lends itself well to painting and is evenly varnished. The shape of a sea pebble, its color and texture themselves give a clue to the future picture: for example, a triangular stone resembles a heart, a round stone resembles the outline of a face, a fish or a bug, an oval stone resembles an owl. It happens that the color of the stone already resembles the color of the animal. It is enough to draw a face, and the stone comes to life.
1. Before starting work, the stone must be washed.
2. Then the dried stone should be coated with a construction primer or PVA glue diluted with water in a 1:1 ratio. This is necessary so that the surface is smooth and the paint adheres better.
3. To make the design brighter, the prepared stone can first be coated with white acrylic paint. After the background has dried, you can begin sketching with a simple pencil.
4. Now we’re working in color! For painting you can use acrylic or gouache paints. It is better to use acrylic paints as they do not wash off.
If we draw an animal, we first start working with dark colors, and then, after the first layer of paint has dried, we show the fur fibers in a light tone.
5. After drying, coat the work with colorless acrylic varnish.

Acrylic paints are universal and easy to use, they dry quickly, and after drying they take the form of an elastic, plastic-resistant coating. These paints have good covering power and excellent color brightness - they do not fade in the sun (like watercolors) and do not fade over time (like oil), and are not washed off with water (like gouache).
In addition, they are odorless and non-toxic, and after drying, acrylic paints turn into a durable elastic film insoluble in water, resistant to fading, temperature and humidity changes, as well as various types of mechanical stress.
This is why acrylic paints are so convenient for painting on stone.
There is a huge number of acrylic paints from domestic and foreign manufacturers. In this article we will look at some affordable (price and availability) brands of acrylic paints that you can use in your work.
Let's start with the most common paints, which can be easily found in regular stationery stores and art stores.
Artistic acrylic brand "Gamma" (Russia). Inexpensive, accessible, suitable for first samples of designs on stones. One of the disadvantages is that when the paints dry, the colors in the drawing become several shades darker.

In today's master class we will talk about some technical aspects of drawing on stones. Since we paint with acrylic paints, we decided to tell you some tricks that make working with them easier.
It is no secret that acrylic dries quickly, so this fact causes certain difficulties for many beginning craftsmen. It turns out that you need to paint quickly, constantly adding new portions of paint. Or use special means to slow down the drying of acrylic paint. But this is not entirely convenient, practical or economical.:)
Acrylic paint dries quickly, turning into a dense, elastic substance. Therefore, firstly, you will not be able to work at a slow pace, dipping your brush into an open jar of paint - since the paint will dry out and you will have to throw away the entire jar or tube. At the same time, using a regular palette is also not very convenient, since the paint consumption is enormous.
What to do? We suggest using a specially prepared palette that will allow you not to be nervous, not to rush, at the same time maintain inspiration, enjoy the work and at the same time save acrylic paints.
In order to make it, we will need:
- Plastic container with lid
- Napkins or toilet paper
- Water
- Baking paper
We take a container, any size, during the process you will determine the volume that is convenient for you.
Accordingly, in a large (wide container) you get a large palette in which you can mix many different colors and shades.
We will take a small one, enough to paint a small stone or sea pebble. Line the bottom of the container with napkins or toilet paper. Lightly compact.
The next step is to take waxed baking paper, cut out a piece that fits the size of the container and place it on the bottom of the container, on top of the wet napkins.
So, our special palette is ready to use. The top layer of the palette - baking paper - perfectly retains moisture - so our paints will not dry out. In addition, if the painting process takes several days (and it usually takes:) ), you can close the palette-container with a lid and put it in the refrigerator or a cold place - the paints will easily remain in this form for several days without losing their properties.
The palette is made, now we take the prepared pebble and we can start painting! But that's a completely different story! :)

They not only fit well on the stone, but also give freedom to the artist - if something doesn’t work out for you, you can paint over the unsuccessful area and paint again. In addition, acrylic paints are environmentally friendly, odorless, non-toxic, and after drying they do not dissolve in water (therefore, it is important to paint in special clothes that you don’t mind ruining).
