FAULTS
Instructions regarding heating (*) apply to COOLING AND HEATING MODELS (Reverse Cycle) only.

In the event of a malfunction (a burning smell, etc.), immediately stop using the appliance, turn off the circuit breaker or unplug the power cord and contact authorized service personnel.

Simply turning off the instrument's power switch will not completely disconnect the instrument from its power source. Always be sure to turn off the circuit breaker or unplug the power cord to ensure that all power is turned off.

OPERATING TIPS
Operation and Results
*Results in Heating mode

  • This air conditioner works on the principle of heat pumping, absorbing heat from the outside air and transferring this heat into the room. Therefore, performance results decrease as the outside temperature decreases. If the room heating results are insufficient, we recommend using this air conditioner together with another heating device.
  • Pump air conditioners heat a room by circulating air through it, so it sometimes takes some time for the room to heat up after the air conditioner is turned on.

*Microcomputer controlled automatic defrosting
When using Heating mode, when the outside temperature is low and humidity is high, frost may form on the outdoor unit, resulting in poor performance. To prevent performance degradation, this appliance is equipped with an Automatic Defrost function, which is controlled by a microcomputer. When frost forms, the air conditioner will temporarily stop operating and operate the defrost cycle for a short period (approximately 7 to 15 minutes). While the Auto Defrost function is operating, the OPERATION indicator light (red) flashes.

*In case the indoor and outdoor temperatures are high
If the indoor and outdoor temperatures are high when using Heating mode, the outdoor unit fan may stop at times.

*Cooling at low ambient temperature
When the outdoor temperature drops, the outdoor unit's fans may switch to Low speed.

Instructions regarding heating (*) apply to COOLING AND HEATING MODELS (Reverse Cycle) only.

AUTO Restart
In the event of a power outage

  • In the event of a power outage due to a power outage, the air conditioner will automatically resume operation in the previously selected mode once the power supply is restored.
  • In the event of a power outage while the TIMER is running, the timer will restart and the split system will start operating (or stop) in accordance with the new timer setting. In this case, the TIMER indicator light (green) will flash (see page 4).
  • Using other electrical appliances (electric shavers, etc.) or using a radio transmitter near the unit may cause the air conditioner to malfunction. In this case, temporarily unplug the power plug from the outlet, plug it back in, and then use the remote control to resume operation of the appliance.

  • If the air conditioner is used at a temperature higher than specified, an internal protection circuit is activated to prevent damage to the internal circuit. In addition, if the unit is used in cooling and drying modes at a lower temperature than specified, the heat exchanger may freeze, causing water leakage and other damage.
Do not use the unit for any purpose other than cooling, (*) heating, dehumidification, or recirculation in residential areas.

Turning on the air conditioner

Using this manual, you will learn how to turn on and properly configure a household air conditioner. Any home air conditioner remote control has 5 main buttons. Let's arrange them in order of decreasing importance in use:

  • “on/off” button—turns the air conditioner on and off;
  • “temp” buttons (“up”, “down” or “+”, “-”) - increase and decrease the required temperature;
  • “fan” button (“fan speed”) – adjusting the air supply speed (shaft rotation speed);
  • “swing” button—changes the position of the blinds (direction of air supply);
  • “mode” button – switching modes: cold, heat, dehumidification, ventilation, auto;

Let's say we have never used an air conditioner, or have just installed it, or do not know what mode it is set in (heat, cold, etc.) In order to check the functionality of the device, you can follow the following instructions.

Turn on the air conditioner for cooling:

  1. Turn on “power” air conditioner (turn on the machine or “plug” the plug into the socket). In this case, a sound signal should sound from the indoor unit. We are waiting for the blinds to close.
  2. Press the “on/off” button. The indoor unit's shutters should open.
  3. Click on the “mode” button so many times until we switch to cooling mode (look at the remote control display). A “snowflake” or an indicator opposite the inscription “cool” should light up on it.
  4. Using the “up”, “down” or “+”, “-” buttons set the temperature(look at the numbers on the remote control). We set the temperature to the one we want to maintain in the room (the higher the number, the warmer the room). Read more. For example, we set it to 25. This means that the air conditioner itself will continue to maintain the temperature in the room +25˚C.

When setting up some air conditioners, this figure may change after a couple of seconds (showing the current temperature in the room);

  1. Next, if necessary, change the shaft rotation speed with the “fan” button;
  2. We can adjust the direction of air flow using the “swing” button.

You should know it:

  • The air conditioner will not cool if the room temperature has reached the set temperature;
  • When using the remote control, always point it at the air conditioner.

Free tip: If you use your air conditioner, don't turn it off at night or when you get cold. It is better to set the optimal temperature. So you will be comfortable, and the air conditioner will work in its normal mode. For example, at night you can increase the set temperature by 1-2 degrees.

The international holding General Climate was founded in 2002 and soon firmly took its place in the market. Today the company produces ventilation, heating systems, refrigeration units and air conditioners. All products have a certificate of conformity.

Air conditioner lines

The Russian-British corporation produces all types of modern air conditioners. The types differ in design complexity and power, which opens up unlimited possibilities for their application.

Monoblocks

Distinctive features: simple design, ease of installation, small coverage. Monoblocks differ from other varieties in their low weight (compact, compared to other types).

General Climate monoblocks are produced in the following series:

  • window air conditioners GCW 05 and 07;
  • mobile (portable) GCP 09 and 12.

They differ in functionality (auto-restart, self-diagnosis), power (up to 30 sq. m), and have several operating modes (auto, timer, night). The main drawback is the noticeable noise level.

Recently, the company began to produce high-temperature GC/GU-CHT and monoblock-type PHT for industrial premises with high temperatures (up to +70 C). As well as the Gart roof series.

Split systems

Consist of an internal and external block. Installation will require professional assistance, as will dismantling. Correspond to the class of energy-efficient devices (class A). Not only do they cool, but they also have a heating function.

The General Climate split system comes in different types:

  • traditional (classic) split systems of the Standart, Alfa-neo, Flagman series,
  • systems with UV air purification GC-EAF07UVN1, GC-EAF09UVN1, GC-EAF12UVN1,
  • inverter air conditioners Africa and EAR09HRN1-RBTI ARTISTO series,

Devices of this class differ from competitors in build quality, functionality (heating, self-cleaning, humidity function), and high level of energy efficiency. With regard to this product, the statement about a good price-quality ratio is true.

Commercial semi-industrial

General Climate produces:

  • 4C cassette air conditioner for rooms with a suspended ceiling, the indoor unit (fan coil) is located between the ceiling and the suspended structure;
  • DN duct air conditioners for cooling several rooms (the system consists of a network of air ducts with grilles and an indoor unit with a powerful fan);
  • column GC-FS for large rooms – up to 200 sq.m. m (halls, halls, in production), easy to install (the internal block is similar to columns);
  • floor-ceiling CF provide uniform cooling by directing a powerful stream of air along the ceiling and walls;
  • universal external units of the U series for rooms of any size, installed outside, characterized by high performance and durability.

Multisplit systems

The most complex design includes several indoor units to serve adjacent rooms. They are used in offices, factories, and residential buildings. Different types are also produced: non-inverter MA series, inverter Free Multi.

General Climate multi-split systems are famous for their ease of maintenance and convenient control, but when directly comparing the characteristics with competitors, they clearly lose. The manufacturer compensates for the difference with an affordable price.

Multizone

vrf and vrv systems for buildings of any size and number of floors. They have an external unit and three internal ones (duct, cassette, and the third is either floor-ceiling, or wall-mounted, or high-power duct) or two external and two internal. Recently, a series of precision COOLSERV has been produced - designed to create safe working conditions in technical rooms, with machines and computer equipment, provides direct evaporation, and provides the opportunity to install additional equipment.

Compressor-condensing units

High-performance devices of the Gacu series operate only in cooling mode, the air exits in one or two directions (vertical and frontal).

It’s worth choosing the General Climate brand: the manufacturer’s products captivate with their good price-quality ratio. General Climate regularly updates its product lines and introduces an innovative approach to the development of new models. Many manufactured air conditioners operate on an ozone-safe hydrocarbon – freon. New products for 2017 include the A09HR air conditioner, equipped with a COLD PLASMA ionizer (with it, the dust in the room becomes half as much in just 10 minutes).

But before purchasing a specific model, it is worth studying a review of air conditioners and comparing technical characteristics.

Instructions for the control panel and air conditioners General Climate

The manufacturer has developed a manual for each series of household and semi-industrial appliances. The distinctive features of a particular model (technical characteristics) are indicated in the passport. The instructions for General Climate air conditioners contain recommendations for operation, management, sections “Installing a General Climate air conditioner”, “Maintenance”, troubleshooting methods, a description of the device (what is included in the kit is shown in schematic form), care recommendations (how to clean the body, the process filter cleaning).

We advise you to carefully study the safety precautions. Violation of the rules may lead to the device turning off (the air outlet openings must not be blocked). If you do not plan to use the device for a long time (for example, throughout the winter), remove the plug from the outlet and the batteries from the remote control. The power should be turned on 12 hours before start-up; this method of connecting to the network contributes to the efficient and smooth operation of the device.

As user reviews show, the remote control for the General Climate air conditioner has a minimum of buttons, so it is easy to use. You can easily:

  • adjust and change the direction of air flow at any time,
  • set the temperature regime, create comfortable conditions (set exactly as many degrees as needed by family members or employees in the room).

The filter must be cleaned 2 times a week; clean it with a vacuum cleaner or rinse it with clean water, placing it with the outer side down. Before cleaning, you need to turn off the power, disassemble the air conditioner: remove the cover and remove the filter.

General Climate air conditioner error codes

The manufacturer has developed troubleshooting procedures. Error codes for General Climate air conditioners are registered for household appliances of the Standart, Cyborg series, for mobile and semi-industrial ones. In some cases, in addition to the code and its description, the possible cause of the error is indicated. You can see the code on the display of models that have a self-diagnosis function. And also using a combination of indicator signals (flashing, on, off). For example, if the indicator starts blinking, this means that operation has been resumed after a failure.

Most problems can be dealt with on your own; others can only be resolved by an electrician or service specialists. Service manuals (repair instructions with electrical diagrams) have been specially developed to help them. Be prepared for the fact that in some cases you will have to replace components: the pump (which removes condensation from the indoor unit), the heat pump (which is why General Climate air conditioners are often called cabinet air conditioners), a carbon filter, etc. Under warranty, replacement can be made free of charge (given for 3 years).

The service center carries out not only repairs, but also diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and you can order cleaning and freon refilling. You can also learn about the main problems associated with the operation of systems from the instructions (codes are not given in it).

Air conditioning has long become an integral device for creating comfortable indoor conditions. It is with its help that people are saved on the hottest summer days. But a very small number of users know that this device can be used effectively in winter. How to set your air conditioner to heat up if it gets too cold in winter?

Turning on the heating

Before setting the air conditioner to heating mode, you need to make sure that its operating temperature is within operating limits, otherwise the system may fail. Undoubtedly, different manufacturing companies (for example, LG, Samsung or General) produce largely different models, but there is still a certain universal model for turning on the heating:

  • It is necessary to turn on the device (the power button is labeled “On”).
  • Next, press the “Heat” key, which means “warmth”.
  • If this button is not present, other options may be present: “Mode”, or any other buttons with icons such as “sun”, “drop”, “fan”, “snow” drawn under/above them. If none of these buttons are present, this means that the system is not capable of heating.
  • If there is a “Mode” button, you need to press it several times until the “sun” or the signature “Heat” is displayed.
  • Using the switching arrows or “+/-” buttons, you need to set a comfortable temperature.

After completing this entire procedure, the fan will turn on, and after five (maximum ten) minutes warm air will be generated, heated to the temperature previously set by the user. Some remote control models may be configured differently - it is recommended to read the instructions before setting up.

To turn on the air conditioner in heating mode, it is not always necessary to use the remote control. Any split system has an external panel (sometimes hidden by a protective screen), the buttons of which duplicate the remote control keys. This is for situations where the remote control is lost, broken, or located far away. Using the panel, you can set the system to heating mode in the same way.

What to do if the heating does not turn on?

There are two main options: either the setup was done incorrectly, or there is a breakdown in the device itself. It is recommended to turn off the air conditioner and repeat all steps again. If after ten minutes there is no heat from the device, there is a breakdown. The most common malfunction is a lack of freon, necessary for the functioning of the heating system. In this situation, it is necessary to take the air conditioner for repair, or call qualified specialists at home, especially if the device is under warranty.

In addition, it is possible that the air conditioner is turned on at temperatures incompatible with its normal operation. It should be noted that some manufacturing companies produce additional modifications that expand the operating temperature range from -30 to +30 degrees Celsius.

Advantages and disadvantages of heating mode

Modern air conditioners perfectly heat any room. An air conditioner with heating has a high efficiency (stands for “efficiency factor,” which allows you to create comfortable conditions in an apartment or house. However, it is not recommended to neglect the services of central heating.

The constant operation of the relative system is harmful to the body, since heated air masses with prolonged circulation in a closed room harm the natural processes of thermoregulation, which can affect the immune system.

Video instructions for turning on the air conditioner in heating mode

Let us remind you that the air conditioner has a lot of modes (not only heating).

The presented video describes in detail and shows the method by which you can turn on the heating function on the air conditioner. Using his own example, the user describes in detail all actions using the remote control, as well as the reaction of the system itself to turning on and changing certain parameters related to the heating mode (sound signals, visual signals - turning on the lights).
