Handmade crafts from natural materials will create an atmosphere of comfort and a romantic atmosphere in your home. Such crafts and interior items made from natural materials are very popular today. It’s especially nice to surprise your friends with such decorative items made by yourself. In order to decorate the interior of your country house or apartment, you can make crafts from branches of various trees.

To use, you need branches that have not been eaten by the bug. It is better to collect such branches in autumn or early spring. Also, all branches without exception require processing in at least 2 stages:

1) Drying the branches is a must. Otherwise, the product will warp in the first month. We dry at room temperature for 1-2 weeks. Or 7 days for batteries. And if you want it very quickly, then in the oven for 2-3 hours on low heat and with the door ajar so that the moisture comes out.

2) Also desirable painting or varnishing. If there is no special varnish for wood at all, then you can treat it with transparent nail varnish.

To do this, we offer you 10 master classes on crafts made from tree branches with your own hands.

This craft will undoubtedly decorate your hallway and delight everyone who comes to visit you. You just need to choose branches that have fairly strong and thick hook knots. Hangers can also be made from small tree branches.

Clothes hanger in the hallway

You will need:

  • Strong branches with thick knots with a diameter of 30-50 mm.
  • Self-tapping screws.
  • Saw on wood.
  • Drill.
  • Blank for the wall

Step 1:

We saw the trunk of the branch in half. We select a suitable workpiece with a length of 300-400 mm. Using a miter saw, we immediately form a hook. Using a saw, we cut off a branch from a branch at a distance of 50-120 mm. And then we cut half of the branch with a knot with a saw along the edges.

We select a suitable workpiece with a length of 300-400 mm.

Step 2:

Drill a hole in the hook with a self-tapping screw. And we attach it to the blank under the hanger. If desired, you can hang them individually or form a hanger. If the hanger is intended for light things, then you can attach the branches using wood glue.

Paint with white acrylic paint

If desired, these hooks can be painted with special paints for wood or use an aerosol spray.

DIY hanging table

Hanging objects can add a feeling of weightlessness and airiness to any interior. A hanging wooden table can make a wonderful bedside table. It is attached to the ceiling with three ropes using a hook. How to make it? Necessary:

  • Tablet.
  • Grinder machine.
  • Drill.
  • Hot glue gun.
  • Screw.
  • S-shaped hook.
  • Polyurethane spray.
  • Felt strip.

Installation of a hanging table

Step 1:

First, you need to choose a suitable board with an unusual texture. Sand all uneven surfaces with a sander.

Step 2:

Next, you need to drill three holes that will match the diameter of the selected rope. The holes should be equidistant from each other, and one of them should be located as close to the wall as possible. You can hang the table using four ropes, then you will need to drill four holes.

Step 3:

The wooden surface should be covered with several layers of polyurethane, allowing each of them to dry. Since the table will be adjacent to the wall, protect its surface from damage. To do this, glue a strip of felt to the part of the table that is adjacent to the wall with hot glue.

Step 4:

Next, pull the ropes through the holes and tie strong knots under the board. After this, you need to drill a small hole in the ceiling and insert a screw with a ring into which you should thread an S-shaped hook.

Step 5:

Then tie all the ropes at the top into a strong knot with a loop and hang the structure on the hook.

In a similar way, you can make crafts for the New Year in the form of a Christmas tree, decorating it with decor, or a star on the door, crafts for Valentine’s Day.

Heart made of twigs

First you need to cut quite a lot of square-shaped sticks on a circular saw. Approximately 16mm thick. If there are six crowns in this house, then 24 sticks are needed. Our house is square in plan, which means the sticks are needed the same length. The length of the sticks must be chosen according to the length of the future walls of the house. Plus 2 centimeters.

Then you need to give the sticks a cylindrical shape. This is usually done on a special machine. We don’t have one, so we use a regular wood lathe.

The front and rear centers of the machine leave quite noticeable indentations on the stick when processing. Therefore, the ends of the sticks, where the indentations remain, need to be cut off. A centimeter on one side and a centimeter on the other. And so you need to process all 24 sticks.
The indentations are clearly visible in this photo.

Then two indentations are cut into each stick.

Then we coat these indentations with “Stolyar” glue (quick-drying PVA). If necessary, we smear the entire length of the stick.

And glue it together. Crown after crown.

Until we collect the entire log house. It will take about 15 minutes for the “carpenter” to dry. Therefore, all this time the entire frame needs to be pressed from above. You can just do it with your hands. When everything sticks together, it should look like this.

Now we mark the slots for the door and windows.

And saw through with a jigsaw.

Before cutting out the windows, we drill a hole in the wall of the house. We will then insert a file into it. Sawing through window and door openings will show us whether we have glued the sticks together tightly or not.

Where necessary, we trim with a knife.

As a result, we should get this.

Then we grind and trim the ends of the logs on a rotating plywood wheel with sanding paper.

We paint the house with a strong manganese solution. Only possible outside.

When the manganese dries, wipe the house with sandpaper. This is how we get a color stretch. Some places are highlighted, others remain dark.

The result should be like this. Here we have blanks for two houses at once.

Then we cut out two triangular pediments from fiberboard. The roof angle on most houses is 90 degrees. In the pediment blank you need to make two semicircular cutouts for sticks. They are made with a semicircular chisel.

Then birch bark is glued onto these blanks. And already on it is embossed, depicting the boards and structure of the tree. Embossing can be done with a very large needle. Then the embossed surface is painted with manganese, and the excess dye is washed off with a 646 solvent. You need to rub hard. Firmly pressing a cloth soaked in solvent onto the birch bark. It should look like this.

Then windows are cut out of birch bark according to the size of the openings. It's better to have two layers. Then they need to be glued together and glued into the openings.

But the windows and gables are already glued into place.

A wooden house is an interesting decorative element and decoration for a children's room. If your little princess is growing up and her dolls simply need luxurious apartments.

Wood is an environmentally friendly material, and branches can be easily found in the park near the house; they make excellent DIY crafts.

House made of branches

Selection of material

In the famous fairy tale, the three little pigs built houses from different materials, but only the stone one survived. We are not afraid of the gray wolf, adopting the experience of Nuf-Nuf, we will build a house from branches with our own hands. First of all, we go to the forest or park in search of wooden materials.

It is better to choose a clear autumn day for this.

For decoration, moss, pieces of bark, pine needles, acorns, cones are useful, take whatever you like, it will be useful for decorating the craft.

If the weather was wet, everything at home will have to be thoroughly dried; wet workpieces will not stick.

To build a hut with your own hands, you do not need to clean the branches; on the contrary, the more roughness and carelessness, the more interesting and natural the craft will be. We carefully examine all the material and build a plan for the future home.

If your imagination is well developed and is able to capture images, you don’t have to draw a sketch. But it's worth making a small sketch.

We select suitable wooden branches and cut them according to the sketch. To prevent too large gaps in the craft, make recesses on both sides, like on logs for building log houses.

Construction works

It’s easy to build an ordinary wooden hut with your own hands, just fold the shelves alternately lengthwise and crosswise. For structural strength, each row must be coated with glue; use regular PVA or a hot glue gun.

Don't forget to leave room for windows and doors. Window frames and doors can also be made from glued branches or from a small piece of plywood.

MORE ABOUT: Decorative tree made of beads and wire

We make the frame for the roof from the same branches, but the covering can be very diverse. Yellow fresh straw will shine brightly in the sun. Small twigs will ensure the unity of the composition, and colorful autumn leaves will create a festive mood.

Decoration

Decorate the local area of a wooden house with moss and other natural materials. The caps of acorns will make excellent mushrooms. Coniferous bushes will create an ambience for the craft.

Or maybe you’ll end up with a real hut on chicken legs with a friendly lady owner.

You can build a house with your own hands in another way. Use ancient weaving technology. This technique produces excellent round structures for kikimora.

A curious effect is produced by the chaotic gluing of knotty pieces onto the frame - the base.

Popsicle stick house

To collect the required number of wooden sticks, it is not at all necessary to collect them for a whole year or count a ton of delicacy at once. Now this is a very popular material; you can buy them at a craft store or in a supermarket in the disposable tableware department.

New wooden sticks do not need any treatment.

It is very easy to make a similar wooden doll house with your own hands.

We lay out the sticks in a row and fasten them across with another stick spread with glue. In this way, walls and ceilings and even roofs are created. All that remains is to glue the blanks together. From the same shelves it is easy to make a staircase to the second floor and furniture for a doll.

Bright and unusual wooden crafts are made from painted sticks.

It is better to paint them before making the craft, this way you will be able to avoid unpainted areas and mixing the colors of individual elements. Choose odorless, waterproof paint; take acrylic coated with varnish.

Round ice cream sticks make real masterpieces, no different from classic log construction. The only difference is the scale. We have to build two floors with a balcony and an entrance hall.

  1. For the base, take a piece of plywood of a suitable size. We use gypsum or foam plastic as the foundation.
  2. We begin to build the structure on the foundation, starting from the floor. First of all, we build a frame and lay the floor sticks on it. The finished floor should look like this:
  3. in each log we cut out a hollow into which the log of the previous row will fit, and so on. We build a frame from the same sticks. It will help not only determine the shape of the future house, but also make the work smoother.
  4. Don't forget about doors and windows. We insert pre-prepared frame structures and decorate with curtains made with our own hands from a beautiful piece of fabric.
  5. LED lights can be installed inside. This wooden lamp will appeal not only to children, but will also be a good gift for a friend.

For making crafts, there is no better material than the one created by Mother Nature herself. Pebbles, branches, fruits and vegetables, moss and flowers - this is not the entire list of what you can use to create original products. How to make a house from the information presented in the article, you will learn two ways to make a similar product: from twigs and from pumpkin.

We make a house from natural materials with our own hands. Preparation of materials

We will make the product from tree branches and foliage. In addition to these, the following materials will be needed for work: cardboard, a heat gun or plasticine, a stapler, a piece of plywood. We will supplement the composition with elements such as a path, mushrooms, and a tree. To make them, you will need a variety of materials of natural origin: pebbles, moss, chestnuts, cones.

Description of the house making process

Made with your own hands from natural materials. This composition will take its rightful place at any exhibition of similar products.

Pumpkin is a product that is not only eaten. We make a hut from this vegetable

For work, prepare the following materials:

  • pumpkin;
  • dry leaves;
  • corn tops;
  • toothpick;
  • plasticine;
  • scotch.

How to do it It's very simple. First, cut off the top of the vegetable and scrape out the seeds. Use a toothpick to draw the outlines of the windows and doors. Cut out these parts with a knife. Place the top of the pumpkin in place. Attach dry foliage to it on top using plasticine or tape. The roof is ready. Attach curtains made from dry corn tops or leaves to the door and windows. That's all. Now all that remains is to place residents in a house made of natural materials, made with your own hands. These can be small toys or figurines of people and animals made from acorns and chestnuts.

Hello, dear friends! Outside, autumn is in full swing, for several days it was very warm, like Indian summer, and the sun was so radiant, playing with all the colors of the rainbow on the yellow-crimson autumn carpet.
But today it started to rain, my son and I didn’t even go for a walk, although we walk in any weather, but today, in addition to the rain, there is also a strong, bone-piercing wind, brrr..., so I decided to sit down at the computer and write this article for you , in which we will consider DIY crafts made from natural materials.

This week, the kindergarten that our daughter attends hosted an exhibition of autumn crafts. Last year, at a similar exhibition, we created a small house, this year too, but now we have doubled it in size, and hung curtains on the windows, it turned out to be a real Russian log hut, even if you come in and live), my husband dreams of living in a log hut). So we train, increasing the size every year, so we’ll soon build one for ourselves).

DIY house made from natural materials

This time I will not describe in detail the stages of creating a house; you can see them in the previous article. The technology for assembling a house from natural material is the same, only we took more material, so to speak, more massive, so that the house would look prominent.

We always saw the branches for the house with a saw, my husband has a small special saw for metal, it helped us a lot, otherwise what kind of chopped hut would it be without logs. The saw is visible in the photo.

This is a house at the initial stage of production

The second difference, this time we fastened the branches with liquid glue, special glue guns are sold, translucent rods are inserted into them, the gun is plugged into an outlet, it heats up and the rod begins to melt.

This glue is very hot, if it gets on your finger, it will burn. So be careful when working with it. Another feature of this glue that cannot be ignored is that it dries in a matter of seconds, or rather, it hardens, so as soon as you apply glue to a branch, immediately apply another to it, otherwise the glue will harden and the branches will not stick together.

The roof, like last year, we covered with dry ash catkins, we wanted to cover it with straw, it would probably be more beautiful, but we didn’t go to the village, and you won’t find it in the city).

The curtains were made of white satin ribbon; they need to be glued on the inside. In this house we have 3 windows and a door with a handle, everything is as it should be).

When the roof is ready, you can lightly paint it with autumn colors: yellow, orange, red. We also lay out the yard with dry leaves, we also paint them with paints, the house can be surrounded around the perimeter with a fence woven from willow branches, we just didn’t have time to complete everything planned and we put up a plastic fence, we put domestic animals in the yard: a plastic cow, a horse and a goat.

There was an idea to make a well out of twigs, but again everything runs into time, we didn’t have time to implement it, I think next year we’ll build a whole village yard), you just need to start making autumn crafts in advance, and not on the last day.

As a result, we got such a house made from natural materials with our own hands. I liked it, how about you?

DIY crafts for kindergarten

At the exhibition, I took several photos especially for you, dear readers, so that you could take something from this as an idea, or repeat it if your imagination is not enough). There were quite a lot of interesting works, well done, everyone did a good job.

DIY crafts photo

This interesting hedgehog made from pine cones was presented at the exhibition. If you are looking for crafts made from pine cones with your own hands, I recommend taking a closer look at this hedgehog, it turned out very cute and large, the muzzle is made of plasticine, on top of the “needles-cones” the hedgehog has mushrooms from plasticine and chestnuts. They themselves sit on bright autumn leaves and dry grass.

Here are more hedgehogs made from cones, only from individual ones, so the hedgehogs turned out to be small, like a family of hedgehogs. There are plasticine apples and mushrooms on the needles, hedgehogs are sitting on leaves around the mushroom, the mushroom cap is made of chestnut, and the stem is made of white plasticine.

By the way, while I’m writing about hedgehogs, I remembered the living hedgehogs at my parents’ dacha. During the dacha season in the summer, a whole family of hedgehogs came to the dacha, their parents fed them, and they began to come every day in the evening for dinner; the hedgehogs really liked kefir with bread soaked in it, milk and meat pilaf, which was left over from our dinner).

It was so funny to watch these wonderful animals, pushing each other away from the plate, snorting and puffing like a samovar). We even managed to photograph one of the hedgehogs.

All the DIY crafts made from natural materials presented at the exhibition were interesting. Here is another composition of fly agaric and boletus mushrooms and a hedgehog made entirely of plasticine.

Hedgehog made from seeds and plasticine

Here’s another interesting composition: hedgehogs made of seeds and plasticine, a whole family, mom and dad, and their children. The hedgehogs made from the seeds turned out cute.

DIY chestnut crafts

You can make excellent crafts from chestnuts; I photographed this autumn spider made from chestnuts at the exhibition. I won’t say how the chestnuts were attached to each other; I didn’t look into it, but it turned out interesting. The head is decorated with autumn leaves.

There was also this cute chestnut caterpillar. The chestnuts were attached to each other with multi-colored plasticine.

DIY autumn crafts from vegetables

I liked the crafts made from vegetables, it’s interesting and unusual. Here in this composition the fox is made of carrots, very similar, beautiful. The fox sits on pine needles, and acorns are also placed. To be honest, I couldn’t figure out what was made of apple). The composition is complemented by autumn leaves and chestnuts.

And here is another caterpillar made of apples and carrots, the apples are held together with toothpicks. The paws are made of toothpicks and carrot slices. This craft turned out to be edible. By the way, it can be used as an idea for a treat for a children’s holiday table, it’s tasty and interesting for children.

Here is an interesting craft made from vegetables, the railway is made of twigs, and the train cars are made of eggplant halves. A house made from half a small pumpkin, with heroes sitting next to each side, if I’m not mistaken, from Smeshariki. The train seems to be carrying vegetables).

I liked the vegetable craft based on cauliflower. Originally invented. The lamb is very similar, and the poodle is also beautiful.

DIY house

And here are some other compositions with houses that were presented at the exhibition. Someone even settled in this house made of branches), small and big-eyed. Near the house there is a plasticine basket with an autumn harvest of fruits and vegetables, near the house there are pumpkins, apparently bought in a store for decoration.

There was also such a house, the branches in it were tied with a rope. The roof is covered with thuja branches. By the way, in this composition there is a fence made of willow twigs, which I mentioned above; after all, a natural willow fence looks much more impressive and pleasant than a plastic one.

Crafts from pine cones

An interesting, spectacular craft made from pine cones in the form of a wreath. The cones are opened with paint, I assume that the paint is from a spray can. Plastic vegetables and fruits, as well as real and artificial autumn leaves, were used for decoration.

Autumn crafts from salt dough

A craft made from salt dough was presented in a single copy. I liked it very much. Autumn motifs, grapes, pumpkin, mushrooms and, apparently, the gardener who grew it all).

Salt dough is beautifully colored, and for better fixation and saturation, you can use artistic varnish; the composition I presented is coated on top with such varnish.

If anyone wants to make a craft from salt dough, I will write a recipe especially for you.

How to prepare salted play dough

Take two glasses of flour, fine salt, preferably extra salt, and one glass of lukewarm water. Mix salt with flour in a deep bowl, gradually add a glass of water, and knead thoroughly until the mass becomes plastic.

If the dough seems dry to you, then add a little water and knead again; if the dough, on the contrary, is runny and sticks to your hands, add a little flour and salt in a ratio of 2 to 1. The secret of elastic salt dough is that you need to knead it for at least 10 minutes , or even all 15.

Here’s an article of ideas on how to make crafts from natural materials with your own hands for school or kindergarten with your children. In fact, you can fantasize endlessly with natural materials and create stunning autumn crafts. What autumn-themed craft did you prepare for school or kindergarten? Share in the comments, I’ll be glad! My dears, the New Year is just around the corner, so I recommend a master class on making Santa Claus with your own hands, watch.

God bless you!

With respect and love, Elena Kurbatova.
