Who among us doesn’t want change at least from time to time? And how great it is when they have enough courage and finances. Have you already changed your hairstyle and half your wardrobe? Then it was the turn of the favorite folk pastime - repair. And the tips from this list will help you get maximum pleasure from the results of your apartment creativity.

Psychologists say that even in the most comfortable home you need to change something at least occasionally. After all, even small changes encourage action, movement, modifying the usual comfort zone. And the simplest thing you can do is repaint the walls, rearrange the furniture in the room or hang a couple of paintings. But high expectations and harsh reality may not coincide if you repeat typical mistakes in interior design. Don't worry: everyone new to this business does them. And these minor flaws are not at all difficult to correct.

Mistake 1: Starting with painting the walls

Although this seems like a very basic step, there is a reason to wait a little. The fact is that paint can be found in absolutely any shade. And if the desired color is not on store shelves, you can easily mix it yourself. It is much more difficult to choose fabrics for curtains, upholstery for furniture or carpet. Start with them.

Mistake 2: buying the first paint you liked in the store

Hasty decisions are rarely successful. At least, in the subtle world of renovation. Therefore, do not immediately buy a bucket of paint, barely looking at the palette in the store. It's better to ask for a free sample or buy a small "trial" version (it's a pity that this option is not available in all retail outlets). And upon returning home, apply it to the walls, furniture, take photographs, look at the shade under different lighting. These simple experiments will help you choose the ideal option. Even if by trial and error.

Mistake 3: “sterile” and faded

We are talking about the shades that you choose to decorate the room. Yes, Scandinavian design is in fashion now. But if you have firmly decided to paint the walls neutral white or gray, and make the same choice in matters of furniture, do not forget about bright accents. Pillows, accessories, rug – be sure to add a pop of color. Otherwise, in such an environment, you can get depressed.

Mistake 4: in one color

The other side of the coin and another common mistake is to select accessories strictly to match the color of the “main accent”. For example, you bought a new fiery scarlet sofa and are now diligently looking for curtains, a lampshade and a rug of the same shade. But the interior will be much more harmonious and cozy if, instead of one merciless dominant color, you choose a color scheme - 3-4 shades that combine well with each other. For example, grey-purple-blue or . This way it will be more pleasing to the eye, and you won’t have to rack your brains about where to find a toaster that matches the color of the drawers in the kitchen.

Mistake 5: Lonely Picture

Paintings and photographs are the details that make a home truly cozy. But instead of lonely art in a frame, give preference to a collage of several fragments - the simplest technique that will greatly refresh any interior.

Error 6: “on the wall”

Most of us, from the first years of our lives, have absorbed the norm that all furniture should be located strictly along the walls. But the taste of modern designers was clearly not cultivated in the Soviet era. And professionals advise you to deviate from the immutable rule and get a little naughty: for example, place a sofa and table right in the middle of the room. Don't worry: this “insolence” will be justified.

Mistake 7: Barriers and obstacles

The call to “move away from the walls,” voiced in the previous paragraph, is not a reason to place a chair right in front of the door to the balcony or block the passage to the kitchen with a sofa. Still, complete freedom of movement should reign in the house.

Mistake 8: Don't let anyone decide for you

Still, this is your home, your fortress and your sofa. And how they should look in order to remain the most comfortable place on earth is up to you to decide. And all the advice is just for inspiration.

By the way, about inspiration and renovation. If you are thinking about repainting the walls, find out. We are sure you will learn a lot of interesting things.

Designer-decorator training

“School of Design” offers you the most interesting and highly sought-after education today – training in the profession of designer-decorator. Interior design today is a modern, fashionable and highly paid activity. And most importantly, it is extremely exciting and interesting:) Unlike an interior designer, a decorator designer designs an already formed residential, display or exhibition space, using tools such as fabrics, paints, lighting, furniture and accessories. Sometimes a completely ordinary room completely changes with the advent of one or two artistic accessories, acquiring its own face and individuality. You will learn to design and execute bright and unique display compositions. Having completed training at the School of Design, you will be able not only to select and order furniture and art objects, but also, with your own hands, to create unique creative products and decorations for homes and public spaces using the techniques of stained glass, ceramics, mosaics and batik. If, while carrying out a large project, you need to attract a team of craftsmen, you will be able to set a task for them absolutely precisely and monitor the timing and quality of its completion. By attending master classes conducted by leading companies and specialists at our School, you will not only get acquainted with the most modern techniques and technical solutions in interior decoration, but you will also acquire professional connections and acquaintances that are so necessary for your future work. By applying the knowledge gained and combining various decorating techniques, you will learn to create your own unique style. And yet - we do not force any of our teachers to work for free, and, nevertheless, they do it :) There has never been a case where our graduate, having started working independently and faced with any difficult task, was unable to achieve his goal teacher for advice. Come study with us. Each person is talented and unique, and we know how to make your talent reveal itself and sparkle with all its facets.

During the entire training period, master classes by professional decorative designers are held.

I have been involved in wedding decor for 10 years now and actively monitor changes in the market. The main key change is the change in experts’ views on the use of artificial flowers in decoration. I remember how we dissuaded brides from 2008 to 2013 from using fake flowers. They say that they should save money, they don’t look very similar...

You know, I often think about the main competencies of a decorator and my list expands with each event held. Concepts and ideas were not stored in my head, folded...

How to make a photo zone frame? The most frequently asked question from my readers. Today’s topic is not about creativity and ideas, but about purely practical and applied issues, because as a decorator, he is not only a lyricist, but also a physicist, and the questions “where to attach?” and “what foundation should I use?” are not alien to him. So, here is a brief overview of the simplest and most popular frame options...
