Dear forum users.
I read the entire topic from cover to cover. I'm asking for advice and opinions. What we have. Sip-panel house 142 m2 for permanent residence. The first floor has a warm water floor (connected via a manual three-way valve), the second floor has radiators (with thermal heads) and heated towel rails. All last year it was heated by an old RUSNIT boiler, the power was set to 6 kW, it worked in on-off mode, clocking every 40-50 seconds, i.e. 40 seconds it works, 40 seconds it doesn’t work. As a result, the radiators were hot all the time, the temperature was comfortable, and the costs were slightly higher than acceptable. In the coldest weather I turned it on at 12 kW. For a three days. The disadvantages of this boiler are obvious, the steps are 6-12-18 kW. There is no smoothness, and with the allocated power of 12 kW it is already a bit overkill. Plus, we constantly had to adjust the temperature of the coolant and sometimes the three-way one.
This year, in the summer, Skat Proterm 9 kW was installed (the old boiler was left in reserve) and the boiler control was entrusted to ZONT H2. Installed all four sensors (supply, room, reserve, street). The main sensor is located on the first floor (where the heated floor is). It is clear that the hysteresis is set to 0.1 degrees, but the boiler still turns on a couple of times a day. Of course it’s comfortable on the 1st floor. Temperature fluctuations are minimal, within 0.5 degrees, the stove is working. But on the second floor, the radiators quickly cool down and, despite the fact that the warm air should tend to rise, it becomes cool. But for now it’s zero outside.
I tried different options, and simply based on the sensor and the ZONT curve (PZA), I wanted, despite everything, the boiler to cycle more often and warm up the second floor, in the end I refused to use the PZA for now, because anyway the boiler clocks in this mode, and then turns off for a long time and the result is the same.
Options.
1. Budget. I read that someone has a main sensor in a situation similar to mine on the second floor. Of course, this is a little problematic for me, but apparently I’ll start with this. The advantage, of course, is that this is now the most budget option. The downside is that it seems to me that I don’t really like the ZONT control algorithm, because it turns on the maximum power very quickly, almost like an on-off switch. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's how it seemed to me. I would really like to see the operation of the boiler with native sensors in PZA mode.
2. Seductive. It follows from the wishes in the first paragraph. Purchase original prothermal sensors, external and internal, install the internal one on the second floor. And ZONT can already be used in parallel, i.e. turn the boiler on and off and monitor the condition. There are a lot of questions for me here:
- Do these native panels, Proterm Exocontrol 7 for example, already have built-in temperature sensors or should they be purchased and installed separately? Are they connected to the same connectors as ZONT? (I really wouldn’t want to lose ZONT), maybe there are some options?
- At what height from the floor is it better to install temperature sensors? I read about 1-1.5 meters, but I haven’t seen this anywhere in the literature.
- Is the boiler operation algorithm really very different when using Exocontrol from the boiler operation algorithm from ZONT?
- What sensors would you recommend purchasing so as not to overpay? If anyone has the numbers, please post them so you don't have to dig too hard.
3. If Exocontrol works on the same connectors as ZONT, then maybe it’s worth purchasing an external Proterm temperature sensor, selecting the PZA curve already on the boiler, and not on ZONT, and adjusting the rest with ZONT? Is this option possible or are two native Proterm sensors needed?

I really hope for advice from experienced...

PS: in the near future I want to switch to a double tariff, so I ask you to take everything written with an eye on this factor...

The Protherm brand is a well-known manufacturer of innovative equipment for autonomous heating systems. At the beginning of the new millennium, the promising Czech brand came to the attention of the giant Vaillant, which acquired the company and brought it to a new stage of technological development. Protherm quality can be considered the standard in boiler equipment, since the plant has a system of personal responsibility and each product is manufactured from start to finish by one specialist. Protherm gas boilers have a wide range of models, presented in the Pantera, Cheetah, Leopard and Bear series. The advantages of Czech gas equipment are excellent performance and thoughtful engineering design, which best contribute to maximizing the functionality of boilers.

Protherm heating equipment is equipped with modern automatic monitoring and control systems and biothermal heat exchangers capable of preparing hot water for domestic use. In addition, Protherm boilers can work as a source of hot water, in summer they can be combined with an indirect heating boiler and can operate on liquefied gas. To realize these useful qualities of Protherm, the company has launched the production of the necessary accessories for boiler equipment. The consumer is offered various NTC temperature sensors for boilers. This device is inserted into a special sleeve of the water heater and connected to the boiler board. Such a simple and reliable scheme allows you to automate the process of heating water for domestic needs by turning on the boiler when the temperature of the water in the boiler decreases.

In situations where there is no access to the gas pipeline system, a convenient solution would be to use a kit for converting (converting) the boiler to liquefied gas, which allows the use of propane-butane cylinders or a gas cylinder. The kit includes a gas pressure reducing valve, a set of brass burners, sealing gaskets, and connecting parts. If necessary, burners and seals can be purchased separately. Protherm did not ignore the possibility of energy-efficient operation of the boiler in automatic mode. For this, external temperature sensors are used, which, together with internal temperature devices, maintain the specified microclimate parameters, reducing gas consumption during street warming. To install a domestic hot water supply system, special kits are offered for connecting the boiler to an indirect heating boiler. Compact electric pumps are used to effectively fill the container. Moreover, with the help of some kits it is possible to create complex hot water systems based on not only a gas, but also an electric boiler.
