Artistic wood carving program "Tatyanka". Artistic wood carving Selecting material for the product

Class:

This program is intended for teaching the subject “The Art of Tatyanka Wood Carving” in the system of additional education, in art classes and as an elective course. The program is designed for 2 lessons per week for 2 hours or one lesson lasting 4 hours.

Wood has always been and remains one of the most attractive ornamental materials. It is not only easy to process using a simple set of traditional tools, but also beautiful in decorative terms.

It should also be taken into account that the practical and technological aspect of training does not require such a significant update of the material base. Such activities do not require a specially equipped room, any complex devices, or scarce tools and materials. Therefore, such classes can be organized in almost any educational institution on the basis of educational workshops or in any school office, without any large additional material costs.

The “Tatyanka” carving is large-scale, creative, with many different elements, from small to very large, from primitive to highly artistic, and at the same time very sophisticated.

In terms of teaching methods, classes in the concept proposed by the authors are entirely based on the ideas of developmental education, since the program provides for the consistent complication of tasks. Methods of health-saving technologies are used. The tasks that students have to complete are aimed at developing in them, from the first lessons, not only the skills of the “Tatyanka” carving technique, but also the motor sphere and creativity. The training includes mandatory homework, in the form of copying special drawings and independent compositional drawings from life.

Purpose of the program to acquaint school students with the heritage of artistic woodworking, instill a love for this traditional artistic craft, teach practical skills of “Tatyanka” wood carving, and the ability to create their own creative compositions.

Program objectives.

Educational:

  • to form skills - precise, error-free actions, brought to automatism by repeated repetition;
  • to develop skills - a combination of knowledge and skills that ensure the successful implementation of activities;
  • to form an idea of folk arts and crafts located on the territory of Russia;
  • develop safe work skills when working with wood;

Educational:

  • speech development: enrichment and complexity of its vocabulary; complication of its semantic function;
  • development of thinking: learn to analyze, highlight the main thing; teach to compare, generalize and systematize;
  • development of the sensory sphere: development of the eye, accuracy and orientation in space;
  • development of the motor sphere: development of motor skills of small muscles - the ability to control one’s motor actions; development of motor dexterity, proportionality of movements.

Educators:

It is structured in such a way that students become familiar with all the main traditional types of artistic wood carving, gain knowledge on the technology of making carved wood products and their finishing, information about tools for performing artistic carving, and become familiar with the rules of safe work when carving. Gain professional skills in the production of commercial products.

An important step on the path of students creating independent compositions is performing the “Tatyanka” carving, learning from samples. This teaching technology allows you to understand and master not only the different types and techniques of this carving, but also typical compositions of wood carving. The sketches created during training should be considered as a valuable methodological foundation, on the basis of which students develop their own further creative compositions.

After completing the course of study provided by the program, students should know:

  • on the classification of types of thread;
  • about the history of the emergence and development of the local craft of artistic wood carving;
  • about the collection of works of folk decorative and applied art and, in particular, about samples of artistic wood carving
  • about the characteristic features of local artistic wood carving;
  • about the complete process of manufacturing carved artistic products at a folk arts and crafts enterprise;
  • safety rules when processing artistic products;

Students should be able to:

  • draw from life and make compositional diagrams from them;
  • make sketches from samples of folk arts and crafts;
  • develop independently simple wood carving compositions based on the “Tatyanka” carving technology;
  • own a wood carving tool;
  • master the technical techniques of “Tatyanka” carving;
  • perform all stages of wood carving, including finishing operations of finished products.

The teacher must use the program creatively, based on specific working conditions and the level of preparation of students.

Carving has been associated with a particular area since ancient times. For example: in the north, where walruses live, this bone craft is developed. In areas of stone caves and deposits of semi-precious stones, the art of processing them is widespread. Due to the large areas in Russia occupied by forest, wood carving is widely developed. There are many methods of this needlework, and more recently another one has appeared - artistic wood carving “Tatyanka”.

The history of the origin of wood carving begins from the time when humanity first learned to use and process this material. This is due to the fact that at that time it was the most accessible and widespread material. Even in the distant past, our ancestors knew that wood has very valuable qualities, namely:

  • waterproof;
  • thermal insulation;
  • low density;
  • various texture patterns.

In addition, many types of wood are very easy to harvest and process. In the old days, almost all buildings and household utensils were made from this material. Since ancient times, people have tried to decorate their lives by creating masterpieces of wood carving. Moreover, this method of needlework developed in many countries, which left its mark on unique features, techniques and styles.

Wood carving not only decorated household utensils and buildings, but also carried a deeper ideological meaning. The simplest geometric flat-relief works appeared first. By decorating their home, craftsmen hoped that in this way they would protect it from the influence of evil spirits, while attracting the bright forces of life, fertility and longevity. In addition, they created small figurines of gods that guarded their household.

Regional and author's styles

Due to the fact that many regions differ in the types of trees, climate and way of life, corresponding regional styles of this applied art have appeared. In addition, some masters who come from different schools of wood carving, who have achieved success in this creativity, create their own new methods. Many of them organize exhibitions and win awards and become famous throughout the world. It is worth noting the following styles of this decorative and applied art:

Separately, it is worth noting the “Tatyanka” style, which appeared at the end of the last century.

Author's style "Tatyanka"

This is a patented style of original wood carving, developed by master Sh. Sasykov, who named it after his wife. This master created a manual called “Russian Wood Carving”. Thanks to this book, many masters of this needlework were trained. Currently there are more than 10 thousand of them. The peculiarity of this style is that Using a special tool, the material is processed only once. This method is faster than other artistic methods.

Selecting material for the product

The wood for processing must be even and smooth. The presence of knots is allowed, which will have to be bypassed during processing. The best wood for this method is linden, which is easy to work with and is especially suitable for beginning carvers. When choosing a board, you need to pay attention to the end so that it is dense and uniform.

The location of the fibers is also of particular importance. It is advisable that they be located along the board, since placing the fibers at an angle will lead to unclean and splintered cuts.

It is also not recommended to expose the boards to moisture and keep them closed in a bag. This can lead to damage to the surface and the appearance of bacteria on them. It is best to store the material in rooms where there is no heating or sudden temperature changes.

Characteristics of the workplace

When using this method, great attention should be paid to the equipment and maintenance of the workplace. Any flat surface will suit the young master: workbench, stool, table, window sill. The best place would be a table or workbench, as they are heavy and have a flat top. A drawing board or piece of plywood will work well. laid out on any flat surface.

The board with which the master will work is not secured in any way and is in a free state. The workplace must have sufficient lighting so that the student does not have to strain his eyesight under any circumstances. It is best if the light is diffused and does not reflect from the table surface. The board must be moistened periodically, but not very much, to facilitate processing. Usually, masters gradually determine the degree and frequency of moisturizing themselves.

Carving tool

To make it easier to learn this carving method, It’s worth using the Tatyanka toolkit. This set is specifically designed for working on plastic surfaces. If you use other tools, this will greatly complicate the learning process, which will take much longer and the result will be worse. To make the simplest ornaments, 2 chisels and a knife with an oblique blade are usually used.

The chisels have a semicircular profile; if you place it perpendicular to the board and turn it around the axis, you get a circle. However, the most important tool for a beginning carver is a knife with an oblique blade. It is this tool that students begin to use. The width of its blade should be between 15-25 mm, and the thickness should be no more than 1.5 mm.

When starting to learn this creativity, you should remember that artistic wood carving requires constant training, which allows you to gradually improve the skills of creating carved products.

Recently, this type of needlework, such as designer wood carving, has become especially popular. Artistic wood carving “Tatyanka”, wood carving “Russian” is a fascinating form of leisure and an excellent hobby that does not require serious material costs. Different types of artistic wood carving are suitable for both adults and children of high school age.

Carving in the “Tatyanka” style is often practiced by schoolchildren (both boys and girls) in clubs and art classes, as well as adults who are not indifferent to beauty. There is an official website Tatyanka.ru - this portal is dedicated to the author’s wood carving center “Tatyanka”, which teaches carving in the “Tatyanka” style. And the magazine “Artistic woodcarving “Tatyanka”” is a guide to the wonderful world of woodcarving, which is addressed primarily to technology teachers, but also ordinary woodcarving lovers, whose best friends are chisels and chisels, will find a lot of interesting things there.

Necessary for work tools can be purchased in stores that sell everything for wood carving and creativity.

There are many different styles of wood carving around the world. Many of them require the purchase of rare types of wood and expensive tools, as well as many years of painstaking training in technology. Of all the types of tenderloin, the type “tatyanka” stands out because it does not require long training. The operating technique is very simple. Everything you need for work can be found at home or bought in specialized stores. So, before starting work, the master of artistic carving “Tatyanka” must first prepare:

In order to better understand the technology of working with wood, it is recommended to watch a training video or attend a master class by experienced carvers. You can also find out all the details about the Tatyanka carving technique by visiting art exhibitions of domestic masters of decorative and applied arts. As a rule, during each woodcarving exhibition, creative meetings are held with the artists-authors of the works, during which you can get answers to all your questions.

Take a look at the gallery and you will see what masterpieces a wooden box and a simple cutting board can turn into!

More about the book
The principle of the tutorial is not “look how you can master carving”, but “let’s try to discover the wonderful world of carving with us through trial and error.” Carving lessons and practical exercises are presented in the tutorial in detail, step by step, with the necessary drawings, photographs and explanations. The author tried to foresee and answer all the questions that may arise from a reader who is independently learning the basics of wood carving. It should be noted that the implementation of only new elements is covered step by step, and variations of those already studied are left for independent work. Thus, a flexible scheme for mastering carving is created, which includes a system of repetitions and gradual mastery of new things. This is especially important for the practical application of the information obtained, when different variations of techniques are appropriate for certain forms of products. The author embodies an innovative method of presenting a carving course in the manual. In one publication, the carver is given all the information necessary for his education: the basics of drawing, composition and perspective, plastics, the history of art and traditions of folk arts and crafts both in Russia and abroad, not only their rich past, but also modern state. The reader who decides to engage in carving can obtain all the necessary information about the preparation, use and storage of wood, selection and sharpening of tools. To make it easier to find information, the material in these sections is grouped in the form of separate, self-sufficient, but interconnected blocks.
